Marshall Creek Development is Back

Your last chance to submit public written comment is August 26th - don’t miss this opportunity. Comments can be sent to Ali Brast – abrast@spokanecity.org.
A public hearing will follow on September 19th at 9am.

This is a big one. The proposal is to turn 121 acres off South of the Cheney-Spokane Road just NW of Eagle Ridge into 425 single-family units spokanecity.org link. Cedar road will be rerouted and appears to terminate at a cul-de-sac with traffic routed through this new development. * This proposed development was exempt from the current moratorium.
Status on Protecting the Thorpe DNR property

A quick update and refresher regarding the ongoing Trust Land Transfer application on DNR’s 190-acre Thorpe Property which will determine if the property will be sold to a developer proposing 1000+ homes or permanently assumed by the City of Spokane as a public natural/recreation area.

Spokane City Parks submitted their application in September of 2023. Park’s application passed the first phase of evaluation (the DNR staff evaluation) in April of 2024, and is being evaluated by an advisory committee now. City parks was given an opportunity to make a short presentation and we have attached the link below for you.

Thank you to the numerous Latah Valley residents who provided letters of support and content.

We expect to hear back regarding how the application was ranked (compared to other applications) sometime in September. Stay tuned for this big decision!

Latah Valley Summit 2

A year ago today, the first highly successful Latah Valley Summit was held with 50+ stakeholders including city, county and state officials, as well as community leaders and Latah Valley residents. With the opportunity presented by the current Moratorium, the second Summit will occur in late Sept/early Oct at the St John’s Church (* final date to follow). The summit agenda will include collaboration on long-term strategies, progress updates on the current Moratorium and current challenges.

Thank you for your critical VOICE!
